A British men’s fashion brand, Big Boys, known for specializing in plus-size clothing for men in sizes 2XL to 10XL, has ceased trading after going into administration. The retailer, based in Leeds and with an average of 12 employees in 2025, appointed Chris Brooksbank of CB Business Recovery Ltd as the administrator. Despite efforts to address financial challenges, the company could not sustain its operations.
Meanwhile, River Island is closing at least 27 stores this month as part of a restructuring plan that previously included the closure of 33 stores. Branches in cities like Brighton, Edinburgh, Great Yarmouth, and Stockton-on-Tees have already shut down. Additional closures in Norwich and Workington are pending confirmation. Additionally, River Island is reducing rents at 71 other locations. Poundland, on the other hand, is closing 12 stores in January as approved by the High Court. The discount retailer sold to investment firm Gordon Brothers for £1 and plans to reduce its branches from 800 to around 650-700 stores. Poundland is implementing a new pricing structure and updating its website to focus on product browsing only.
