“Tragic E-Bike Collision Claims Life of 8-Year-Old Boy”

A community is in mourning following the tragic death of an eight-year-old boy who collided with an e-bike while riding home from school. The incident occurred on a bike path near the Kawana Way and Sunshine Motorway interchange at Mountain Creek. The boy, identified as Zeke Hondow, collided with a 15-year-old boy also riding an e-bike. Both were wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

Zeke was immediately rushed to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in critical condition but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries despite efforts from medical teams. The Queensland Police reported that the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident, which took place on October 30 in the afternoon. The primary school-aged boy passed away, while the high school-aged boy involved in the crash is cooperating with the authorities.

Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant footage to come forward as investigations continue. Queensland’s Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg expressed condolences to Zeke’s family and emphasized the need for government action to address e-bike safety concerns.
