A tragic incident involving a six-vehicle crash has claimed the lives of a pregnant woman and seven of her family members. The truck driver involved in the collision has been charged in connection with the devastating accident.
Although the identities of the victims have not been officially confirmed, the woman has been identified as Kenia Ramirez by her relatives. Kenia, who was three months pregnant, perished alongside Darwin Ventura and their child, Kayle, as reported by his mother, Sonia.
Sonia revealed that Kenia’s mother and her four children, Justin, Andy, Natali, and Evan, also lost their lives in the horrific crash. The collision triggered a series of events involving four other vehicles after the Dodge van carrying the family caught fire.
The children who perished in the crash were reported to be between 2 and 16 years old. Ventura’s mother, Eva Velasquez-Benitez, expressed deep shock over the tragedy, stating, “We are in shock still.”
According to reports, the pregnant mother was eagerly awaiting the gender reveal of her unborn child, while her son was excitedly planning for the future. The truck driver, Kane Aaron Hammock, 33, faces multiple charges including eight counts of vehicular homicide and one count of feticide by a vehicle, in addition to other charges such as following too closely and distracted driving.
Authorities disclosed that the collision occurred when Hammock’s tractor-trailer rear-ended a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan on Interstate 85 in Jackson County, approximately 62 miles northeast of Atlanta, resulting in the fatal six-vehicle crash on a Monday afternoon.
All occupants of the Dodge van tragically lost their lives in the fiery crash, and they were pronounced dead at the scene. Distraught family members have initiated an online fundraiser to assist with funeral expenses.

In a heart-wrenching development, a van transporting 37 cats to a shelter in Vermont was also involved in the collision. A volunteer at the scene described the chaos and immediate loss of life, with two cats still missing and one cat in critical condition receiving urgent veterinary care.
