A man threatened employees at a pizza restaurant with what appeared to be a gun, demanding money before fleeing with cash. The incident occurred at a Domino’s Pizza establishment on Swanley High Street in Kent. The robber, identified as Karl Kaynar, also targeted an Asda petrol station in London Road the next day, using a knife and a broken paving slab to intimidate staff and escape with thousands of pounds.
Kaynar was apprehended the same day, leading to the recovery of the air gun he had brandished during the crimes. Following his arrest, a bag linked to him containing stolen cash and a knife was seized. Kaynar, aged 42 and with no fixed address, pleaded guilty to multiple charges including robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, and possession of a knife in a public place.
He also confessed to additional theft and drug offenses, along with another armed robbery investigated by the Metropolitan Police. Kaynar was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison, with an additional period to serve upon release. Detective Constable Rosie Acton emphasized the seriousness of Kaynar’s actions, stating that his arrest prevented further harm to potential victims in the Swanley area.
