“Trump’s Scottish Golf Courses Facing Financial Losses”

Must Read

Despite achieving record sales, Donald Trump’s golf courses in Scotland reported financial losses last year. The accounts filed for the resorts at the Menie Estate and Turnberry revealed that Turnberry experienced a 15% increase in turnover to a record £23.2 million, driven by affluent tourists visiting for expensive rounds of golf. While SLC Turnberry declared an operating profit of £2.3 million, depreciation charges led to an overall loss of £631,779.

Trump’s other course, the Trump International Golf Links, continued its streak of losses for the 13th consecutive year despite its best financial performance. The course reported a total loss of £937,693, showcasing a slight improvement from the previous year’s loss of £1.4 million.

Trump, who resigned as director of the golf business upon becoming president in 2016, has since passed control to his family. Eric Trump, in his director’s report, expressed optimism for the resorts’ future profitability and highlighted ongoing developments to enhance the visitor experience.

Both Trump Turnberry and Trump International Scotland saw significant revenue growth and achieved their highest turnovers in 2024. The organizations have invested in expanding and improving their top-ranked golf courses and leisure facilities to attract more visitors.

Despite the financial challenges, Trump remains passionate about golf, spending a notable portion of his time on the green since taking office. According to didtrumpgolftoday.com, he has dedicated approximately 25.2% of his second presidency to golfing activities.
