Freeview has announced significant changes to its telly guide, including channel repositioning and a rebrand. The most notable update is the closure of Talk (Ch 280), a UK news channel known for its focus on debate and politics. Viewers can now access this service via the Talk app or other platforms like Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.
In addition to the channel closure, Freeview is introducing other adjustments. Wedotv Big Stories on channel 275 will be renamed Wedotv, and three services will relocate on the planner. Ketchup TV, Ketchup Too, and Cartoon Classics will have new channel assignments, with Ketchup TV moving from Ch 209 to Ch 208, Ketchup Too shifting from Ch 210 to Ch 209, and Cartoon Classics moving to Ch 210 from its previous location at Ch 214.
Freeview confirms that various broadcasters will implement changes to their channels on 25th June 2026. The platform emphasizes that channel modifications are common, with channels frequently moving, adding, or removing content to offer audiences diverse programming options.
To ensure that TV sets have the latest channels, users must access the settings and perform a retune. Freeview advises users to retune their TVs to update channels and the TV Guide effectively. The process involves pressing the menu button on the remote, selecting setup or installation, choosing first-time installation, and saving any new channels found during the retune.
For detailed instructions on how to retune your TV:
– Press the menu button on your box or TV remote control.
– Select ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, ‘update’, or a similar option. If prompted for a password, the default codes are ‘1234’ or ‘0000’.
– Choose ‘first-time installation’ or similar settings.
– Confirm the deletion of existing channels if prompted, and the retune process should start automatically. Save any new channels that are discovered.
