“BT Launches Smart Hub 3 with Advanced Security Features”

Must Read

BT has introduced a new method for internet access that goes beyond basic connectivity. The company’s latest Smart Hub 3 Wi-Fi router is set to launch in UK households soon, boasting enhanced connectivity along with added security features.

The router incorporates technology that can automatically detect and warn users about harmful websites, providing protection against malware and other online threats. Additionally, it can identify hacking attempts on smart home devices like internet-connected cameras, preemptively blocking suspicious activities.

Users will be able to monitor detected threats using the Hub Threat Protect feature in the MyBT app, offering improved online security and proactive defense against potential cyberattacks.

In addition to security, the Smart Hub 3 prioritizes performance by supporting Complete Wi-Fi Plus, which extends signal coverage throughout the home and minimizes weak signal areas.

Despite not adopting the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard seen in some competitors, the Smart Hub 3 is Wi-Fi 6 enabled. Wi-Fi 7 offers faster speeds, lower latency, and enhanced reliability. However, Wi-Fi 6 is still a significant upgrade from older Wi-Fi 4 and Wi-Fi 5 equipment, catering to the majority of households given the current device compatibility landscape.

To acquire the new router, BT’s Smart Hub 3 will be accessible to new customers, with potential upgrade eligibility for existing users.

Regarding Wi-Fi standards, Wi-Fi 6 enhances wireless performance by elevating speed, efficiency, and capacity compared to its predecessors, Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4. Wi-Fi 7 builds on this with wider 320 MHz channels, reduced latency, and even higher speeds, making it particularly beneficial for gaming, 8K streaming, and advanced smart home configurations. While Wi-Fi 6 remains a robust choice for most users, Wi-Fi 7 presents a more forward-looking solution.
