A 62-year-old woman who taught beauty classes was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing her younger boyfriend and burying his body in her yard.
Authorities in Bebedouro, Sao Paulo, Brazil, found the remains of 21-year-old Alex Sandro da Silva Rocha last week. According to the police, the victim was fatally stabbed in the chest with scissors. Jussara Luzia Fernandes reportedly admitted to the crime.
Fernandes recently became a widow after her husband was found dead in their swimming pool in January, with his death ruled as accidental. However, following her confession to killing her boyfriend, the Civil Police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
During a search at her residence last week, officials interrogated Fernandes, who initially denied any involvement. Nonetheless, police noticed a freshly dug hole in the backyard near the house. Despite her claim that it was for her deceased pet, the Fire Department unearthed the victim’s body.
Upon her arrest, Fernandes confessed to a heated argument with her boyfriend, leading her to use scissors in self-defense and fatally wound him. Allegedly, she even hired someone to dig the grave for the victim.
Detective Joao Vitor Silverio revealed that Fernandes enlisted the help of her son to move the body outside the house. She is now detained on charges of homicide and concealing a corpse.
The victim’s mother, Ivonete Ribeiro da Silva, disclosed that her son was in an abusive relationship and wanted to end it. She described Fernandes as controlling, jealous, and possessive, hoping for justice to prevail.
In an emotional statement to EPTV in Brazil, Da Silva accused Fernandes of plotting her son’s death by drugging him. She mentioned instances of control and aggression, including impersonating her son during phone calls.
Da Silva asserted that her son, despite loving his girlfriend, had decided to leave her due to her oppressive behavior. She also alleged that Fernandes once ran over his foot with her car during a heated argument.
