Three individuals were swiftly taken to a medical facility after a machete assault by a group of men in a city center in the UK. Leicestershire Police received a report of men attempting to gain access to a building on Alexander Street in Leicester at 7:19 pm on Wednesday. Witnesses observed the men carrying machetes and fleeing the scene. Armed police responded, and three individuals were hospitalized, with one in serious condition, though not considered life-threatening.
Residents heard cries of “armed police” during the unfolding incident and roads surrounding Alexander Street were secured within a perimeter. A police spokesperson stated that a substantial number of police resources were mobilized to address the report of men with machetes, resulting in three individuals sustaining injuries. The injured individuals were treated at the hospital, with one sustaining a severe injury and the other two minor injuries, all non-life-threatening.
Paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service also attended the scene. The police investigation, led by Detective Sergeant Vicki Hudson from the Complex Investigation team, is ongoing. The incident is believed to be a targeted attack related to an aggravated burglary reported two weeks earlier. Police urge any witnesses or individuals with information to come forward.
