The head of the sole anti-war party in Russia announced his determination to remain in the country and advocate for change, despite escalating pressure from the authorities resulting in the party’s exclusion from the upcoming parliamentary elections. The Supreme Court’s decision to disqualify the post-Soviet liberal party, Yabloko, from the September elections was seen as a response to the party’s growing resonance with voters due to its stance on ending the prolonged conflict in Ukraine.
Nikolai Rybakov, the party leader, emphasized that the support of the people was more significant than the court’s ruling, citing the vocal backing of hundreds of supporters outside the courtroom.
