“Woman’s Wedding Prep Uncovers Cancer Diagnosis”

Must Read

A woman who was getting ready for her wedding day got a shocking diagnosis after ignoring shoulder pain she attributed to crafting decorations. Shannon Frost, 31, and her husband Richard, 31, were busy with wedding preparations when Shannon’s pain worsened. Despite dismissing it as muscle strain, she sought medical help on September 3, suspecting a blood clot but was diagnosed with a frozen shoulder. A subsequent blood test raised concerns, leading to a rushed hospital visit on September 11.

Further tests revealed a 12cm mass in Shannon’s chest, confirming non-Hodgkin Lymphoma on September 13, 2024. The tumor was pressing on a nerve linked to her shoulder, causing the pain. Following six rounds of chemotherapy at New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton, Shannon went into remission by February 2025.

Reflecting on her experience, Shannon, a customer success account manager, shared that the period leading up to the wedding was hectic with family birthdays and wedding preparations. She attributed her shoulder pain to crafting late at night. Despite feeling fine on her wedding day, subsequent medical investigations uncovered the lymphoma diagnosis.

Shannon’s journey through treatment also included a touching gesture from her father, who wrote a book about her hair loss to help her daughter, Ophelia, cope with the changes. The book, titled ‘My Mum’s a Chameleon,’ has been well-received by local establishments.

Shannon expressed gratitude for her recovery and the support from her family during her battle with cancer.
