Paige Bueckers showcased a remarkable second-half performance, scoring all 22 of her points to lead the Dallas Wings to a 94-88 victory over the struggling Toronto Tempo, who suffered their 10th consecutive defeat on Wednesday.
Bueckers, who struggled in the first half, went perfect from both the field and the free-throw line in the third quarter, contributing 13 crucial points. Arike Ogunbowale also shined with 21 points, achieving season highs in free throws and attempts by going 13 of 14, while Alanna Smith recorded 13 points and 11 rebounds. Awak Kuier added 14 points to the scoreboard.
Dallas managed to secure the win despite missing key players like All-Star Jessica Shepard and rookie Azzi Fudd due to injuries. Marina Mabrey led the Tempo’s offense with 23 points, including 14 in the final quarter when Toronto cut the lead to just three points after being down by 18 in the third.
Bueckers’ stellar performance included eight assists and three steals, one of which led to a crucial layup that extended Dallas’ lead to 10 points. She finished the game shooting 7 of 11 from the field and making all seven of her free throws in the second half.
Laura Juskaite contributed 18 points, and Kia Nurse added 16 for Toronto, who played without starters Brittney Sykes and Julie Allemand.
Overall, the Wings’ victory ended their three-game losing streak, providing a much-needed boost for the team.
