The Montreal Roses took swift action following their exit from the W Canadian Championship by parting ways with their inaugural head coach, Robert Rositoiu. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, made the announcement on Thursday, expressing gratitude for Rositoiu’s contributions in establishing the professional women’s soccer team. Recognizing the difficulty of the decision, Pichon emphasized the need for a new direction to propel the club forward.
Despite holding the second spot in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points and 10 remaining regular-season matches, the Roses are seeking a fresh start. Rositoiu assumed the head coach role in September 2024 in preparation for the club’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
In the interim, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will step in as the temporary head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
