“Man’s Shocking Cancer Discovery: Broken Neck from Stubbed Toe”

Must Read

A man recently shared his astonishing journey of discovering his incurable cancer after a seemingly innocuous incident of stubbing his toe resulting in a broken neck.

Last May, 62-year-old Paul Angliss initially ignored severe back pain in his lower back, attributing it to normal wear and tear. Despite experiencing similar discomfort two years prior, he assumed it was a recurrence of the same issue.

Several months later, in August 2024, while vacationing in Japan with his partner Priya Gohil and their daughter Nancy, Paul struggled through excruciating pain while ascending Mount Fuji. Despite his struggles, he persevered and made it to the summit.

Subsequently, in October 2024, while in his bedroom, Paul accidentally stubbed his toe on a chair, causing a shockwave that paralyzed him and induced spasms in his neck. This incident led to the discovery of a broken C3 vertebra in his neck.

Following a series of tests, Paul was diagnosed with myeloma, a rare type of blood cancer that affects the bones. Despite the shock of the diagnosis, Paul expressed gratitude for the timely detection of his condition.

Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, targets the bone marrow and can manifest various symptoms. While there is no cure, treatments are available to manage the disease and extend life expectancy.

Paul underwent chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, followed by participation in a drug trial. Subsequent tests revealed no cancer cells in his blood, and on October 13, he received the news of being in remission.

Encouraging awareness of the disease, Paul now advocates for Blood Cancer UK and acknowledges the crucial support provided by Maggie’s charity. Reflecting on his journey, he emphasized the importance of seeking medical attention for persistent back pain and not taking health for granted.
