“Gordie Howe International Bridge Sees High Traffic Volume”

Statistics Canada reported that a significant number of drivers crossed the Gordie Howe International Bridge into Canada during the initial days following its opening. The highly anticipated bridge, which links Windsor and Detroit, commenced operations on July 27 after experiencing several delays. According to StatCan’s initial data on inbound traffic, there were 18,900 return trips by Canadian residents from the United States via the Gordie Howe bridge in the first five days of its operation. Additionally, 18,100 U.S. residents entered Canada by crossing the bridge during the same timeframe. Comparatively, the Ambassador Bridge and the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel recorded a total of 52,700 inbound trips by both Canadians and U.S. residents over the same period. In the last five days of July, StatCan noted that 4,100 commercial transport trucks travelled to Canada via the Gordie Howe bridge.
