“Girl in Critical Condition After Pool Incident in Rhodes”

Must Read

A young girl vacationing with her family is currently in critical condition in a hospital after allegedly being left unsupervised in a hotel pool in Rhodes.

Authorities reported that the child was discovered around midday at a hotel in Lardos, located on the Greek island of Rhodes. Surveillance footage showed the toddler entering the pool alone, and approximately 10 minutes later, a sunbather noticed the child in the water.

A woman, believed to be a British doctor, immediately intervened, pulling the three-year-old out of the pool and administering life-saving CPR until emergency services arrived. Medical personnel worked to stabilize the girl before transporting her to Rhodes Hospital in a critical state.

Following her initial treatment, the child was airlifted to the University Hospital in Heraklion, Crete, where she underwent surgery by neurosurgeons to alleviate pressure on her brain. She is currently receiving care in the intensive care unit.

Rhodes police reported that the girl’s uncle, who was responsible for her supervision, and the travel agency manager overseeing hotel guests were arrested two hours after the incident. Subsequently, they were brought before the Rhodes District Court Prosecutor and formally charged.

Michalis Sokorelos, director of Rhodes Hospital, noted that the child had been in the water for an extended period and showed no signs of responsiveness upon arrival.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office is assisting the girl’s family and maintaining contact with Greek authorities during this challenging time.
