“Double Cold Weather Payments Issued in UK Snowfall”

Double Cold Weather Payments have been distributed to some households this week following snowfall in various UK regions. Cold Weather Payments, valued at £25 each, are granted when the temperature in your area drops to zero degrees or below for seven consecutive days. Multiple payments can be received if there are repeated periods of freezing weather.

The Mirror recently disclosed that 451 postcode areas are eligible for Cold Weather Payments this year. To qualify for a payment, individuals must claim specific benefits or mortgage support. Payment is automatic and should be credited to your bank account within 14 working days. Exceptions include needing to apply if you have a baby or if a child under five moves in with you.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) administers Cold Weather Payments, with the program running until March 31, 2026. Notably, Scotland has replaced Cold Weather Payments with the Winter Heating Payment, valued at £59.75.
