Canada concluded the 2026 FIBA 3×3 Women’s Series on a high note, triumphing over Japan with a 20-10 victory in the final at the Takasaki event. This win marked their second title of the season following their success in Shanghai back in May.
The Canadian team, holding the top seed, displayed dominance throughout the tournament. They swept through Pool A and continued their strong performance by defeating China 21-9 in the quarterfinals and Neftchi SOCAR 22-12 in the semifinals. Paige Crozon showcased an impressive performance against China, contributing 11 points and grabbing eight rebounds, while Merissah Russell added eight points in the semifinal match.
During the final against Japan, Canada took an early lead and maintained their advantage until the end, despite a late rally from the Japanese team. The Canadians secured their victory with a final score of 20-10, clinching the Takasaki title.
Russell earned the MVP title for her outstanding performance in Takasaki. She led the tournament in player value with 45.3, made 12 successful drives, and ranked second in total points (32) and highlights (17).
While Canada’s win in Takasaki marks a successful conclusion to their Women’s Series campaign, they will not progress to the Project Redwings Shanghai Final scheduled for September.
