A young boy from Calgary who was rescued following a near-drowning incident in a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in the hospital, with reports indicating significant damage to his lungs. Nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren had been swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby on August 3 when he failed to resurface after going underwater.
His mother, Maria Warren, recounted how nearby beach visitors promptly responded to the emergency, managing to retrieve him from the water shortly after he went missing. According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy had become trapped against fallen debris by the river’s strong currents before being brought to shore and administered CPR. Authorities suspect that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes.
Paul-Angelo is currently receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, where his family remains by his side. Maria expressed her unwavering dedication to staying with him at all times, ensuring that he sees her upon waking and hears her comforting presence.
