Constitution Hill, a former unbeaten star in jumping, faced setbacks in the previous season with falls in key races like the Champion Hurdle and Punchestown Champion Hurdle.
Henderson disclosed that Constitution Hill underwent a thorough assessment, likening it to a visit to a specialist for an eight-year-old horse. Despite recent challenges, Constitution Hill is positioned as the third favorite for the next year’s Champion Hurdle, trailing behind Willie Mullins’ mare Lossiemouth and The New Lion.
The much-anticipated duel between Constitution Hill and The New Lion is set for the BetMGM Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. The lineup also includes contenders like Anzadam from Willie Mullins’ stable and the reigning Champion Hurdle victor, Golden Ace.
Bookmakers are evenly split on the favorites, with Coral offering odds of 11-8 for both Constitution Hill and The New Lion, followed by Anzadam at 3-1, Golden Ace at 20-1, and Nemean Lion at 33-1.
