“111-Year-Old Reveals Secret to Long Life: Wine and Sweets”

Must Read

A man celebrating his 111th birthday has shared the key to his long life – a combination of wine and sweets. Zhan Changcheng, a resident of Wanyao Village in China, was born on 17 March 1914. Despite living through various historical events, including World War I, the Warlord Era, and communist rule, Zhan maintains an active lifestyle, enjoying walks and card games with friends.

Zhan, a father of nine children, all of whom live with him under the same roof, is known for his meticulous personal care routine, including brushing his teeth thrice daily and waking up at 5am. His family members take turns looking after him, with his sons Yingtong and Yingqin ensuring he is well cared for.

Known for his preference for sweetened foods, Zhan insists on having everything, including his white rice, sweetened to his liking. Despite his love for sugary treats, his health remains in good condition, as indicated by regular check-ups.

Having dedicated over 50 years to bamboo weaving, Zhan is a respected figure in the community, having trained numerous apprentices in the craft. He continues to meet with friends who share his passion for weaving, despite their age difference.

While Zhan used to be a heavy smoker, he quit a few years ago under family pressure. However, he still carries a pack of cigarettes with him to offer others. Described as leading a simple and content life, Zhan values basic necessities over luxury.

Wanyao Village boasts 22 residents aged over 90, with Zhan being the second oldest person in China after Zhou Renqing. Celebrating his remarkable longevity, Zhan’s commitment to a humble lifestyle and enjoyment of wine and sweets have contributed to his well-being.
