A golfer from Saskatchewan achieved his first hole-in-one while competing at the National Special Olympics. Taylor Carter, residing in Regina, has been part of the Special Olympics team since 2013, with a golfing journey starting at the age of four. His memorable feat occurred at the Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club during the recent event.
Taylor expressed his disbelief and emotional reaction to the achievement, stating that watching the video of the moment always brings tears to his eyes. Serving as Taylor’s caddy was his nephew Ashton Carter, who has been supporting him in various tournaments for the past two years.
During the competition’s climax at the 16th hole spanning 135 yards, Taylor confidently struck the ball with a nine-iron. The shot was immediately recognized as remarkable by Ashton, and Taylor’s brother was the first to confirm the hole-in-one. The jubilant reaction from Taylor’s family was captured on video by his sister-in-law, Kyra-Lee Carter.
Witnessing the event was Taylor’s best friend, Jason, who had traveled to be by his side, adding to the emotional atmosphere. Taylor’s mother, Charlene, shared her astonishment and pride in her son’s achievement at a national level.
