A young woman named Bella Culley, who is pregnant, has been granted permission to fly back to the UK from Georgia after facing drug smuggling charges. Culley, aged 19 and hailing from Billingham in Teesside, was held in Georgia for allegedly attempting to smuggle marijuana and hashish in her luggage at Tbilisi international airport. After spending five months in a Georgian prison, her term was reduced to five months and 25 days following a plea deal agreement.
Accompanied by her mother, Lyanne Kennedy, Culley is set to arrive in London Luton Airport on an easyJet flight. Despite concerns about her advanced pregnancy stage, her lawyer confirmed she could board the direct flight without any special permissions. The decision to release Culley was based on her age, pregnancy, and cooperation during the legal proceedings, according to prosecutors.
Upon her release, Culley expressed relief and surprise at being freed, mentioning that she had not expected the outcome. She avoided commenting on the prison conditions when asked and promptly left the scene with her mother. Plans are in place for Culley to be driven back to her home in the North East upon her arrival in Luton.
