“Parliament Investigates Nigel Farage Over Undisclosed Trips and Income”

Must Read

Nigel Farage is under scrutiny by Parliament for a delayed disclosure of interests. The Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards initiated an inquiry on October 30 concerning Farage’s income and trips outside the UK.

The investigation pertains to his alleged omission of a visit to Florida to speak at a fundraising event for Donald Trump earlier this year. Farage headlined a Republican party dinner in Tallahassee, where attendees could pay up to £18,445 for a VIP ticket, including a photo opportunity with him.

Farage attributed the oversight of not registering the trip to an administrative mistake by his office. He mentioned that the details were emailed but not added to the transparency logs, acknowledging the error and planning to rectify it promptly.

According to parliamentary regulations, MPs must declare trips outside the UK exceeding £300, not fully funded by themselves or public resources, within 28 days. In response, a Labour source criticized Farage for his absence from Parliament and recent policy proposals.

Additionally, Lib Dem Deputy Leader Daisy Cooper called for transparency regarding Farage’s connections to Trump’s administration. Previously, a standards watchdog investigated Farage for an undeclared fishing boat, which was determined to be owned by a company associated with Farage.

Recent reports revealed Farage as the highest-earning MP, earning from various external engagements and dedicating substantial time to these activities. Since the Brexit referendum, Farage has amassed a significant property portfolio and substantial monthly income. Despite requests for comment, Reform UK did not provide a response.
