Tatiana Schlossberg, the granddaughter of John F Kennedy, has revealed that she has been diagnosed with terminal blood cancer, specifically myeloid leukemia. This diagnosis came shortly after the birth of her daughter last year. Despite being only 35 years old, Tatiana shared her story in the New Yorker magazine on the anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
In her article, Tatiana recounted the shock of her diagnosis in May 2024, when her doctor noticed abnormal white blood cell counts. Despite being seemingly healthy, she was diagnosed with a rare mutation called Inversion 3, which conventional treatments cannot cure. Tatiana has since undergone two bone marrow transplants, chemotherapy, and blood transfusions. She also participated in a clinical trial for CAR-T-cell therapy, but unfortunately, she has been informed that she has less than a year to live.
Expressing her devastation over the impact of her illness on her family, Tatiana shared her guilt about adding another tragedy to her mother’s life. She highlighted her disappointment in her second cousin, RFK Jr, for cutting cancer funding and promoting vaccine skepticism, which affected her own healthcare.
The Kennedy family has been plagued by tragedies over the years, leading to the speculation of a “Kennedy Curse.” From JFK’s assassination in 1963 to Robert Kennedy’s murder in 1968 and other family members’ untimely deaths, the family has faced significant losses. Tatiana’s own battle with cancer adds to this tragic legacy, as she navigates her illness and its toll on her loved ones.
The story of the Kennedy family is filled with both historical significance and personal tragedy, marking a complex legacy that continues to shape public perception and familial dynamics.
