“Freely Introduces Spotlight Channels for UK Viewers”

Must Read

Sky and Freeview have long been prominent players in the UK TV market, delivering content to numerous households. However, a new contender has emerged in the form of Freely, which entered the scene in 2024 and has quickly gained traction, attracting over a million households.

Since its inception, Freely has enhanced its features and expanded its TV guide offerings, now boasting more than 50 live channels accessible without the need for traditional aerial or dish installations.

The latest development from Freely is the introduction of Freely Spotlight Channels, providing additional entertainment to viewers at no extra cost. These new channels will be streamed exclusively through standard Wi-Fi connections.

According to Freely, the Spotlight Channels will be available on channel 31 and channels 90 to 99, accessible to CTV OS partners on Freely-enabled devices. V, previously known as VIDAA, the company behind the VIDAA OS utilized in Hisense TVs, is set to be the launch partner, offering a curated selection of channels from its lineup on the Freely TV Guide.

The Freely Spotlight Channels will be integrated among established UK broadcasters in the TV guide, granting selected channels increased visibility and credibility within the regulated UK TV landscape.

While specific content details for the channels are pending, further information is expected to be disclosed closer to the launch date.

Deep Halder, Chief Commercial Officer at Everyone TV, commented, “As Freely continues to expand, our focus remains on creating a platform that delivers lasting value across the ecosystem. By enabling CTV OS partners to participate in specific sections of the TV guide, we aim to generate new opportunities while ensuring free, trusted TV content remains easily accessible to UK audiences in the streaming era.

“It is fitting that V, our inaugural partner at Freely’s launch, leads the way as the launch partner for Spotlight Channels, featuring prominently in the TV Guide with its new channels.”

Unfamiliar with Freely? Run by the same team behind Freeview and Freesat, Freely distinguishes itself by delivering all content via broadband, eliminating the need for traditional aerials or satellite dishes.

To access Freely, users simply require a compatible TV or set-top box along with a reliable Wi-Fi connection. The platform offers over 50 live channels, on-demand content, personalized recommendations, a comprehensive TV guide, and the ability to pause live TV.
