Emma Raducanu Finishes Season as World No. 29

Must Read

Emma Raducanu has achieved one of her seasonal objectives as the WTA Tour season concludes. The British tennis star decided to end her season prematurely in early October due to health issues.

Raducanu’s season had its ups and downs. While she secured notable wins at Wimbledon and the US Open, reclaiming her position as Britain’s No. 1, she faced fitness challenges towards the latter part of the season. This became apparent at the Ningbo Open when she required medical attention and lost her opening match in three sets.

After encountering various obstacles, Raducanu chose to conclude her season early but confirmed that she would continue working with coach Francisco Roig in 2026. This decision jeopardized her goal of being seeded for the Australian Open.

The 22-year-old withdrew from her final two tournaments of the year ranked 29th, casting doubt on her aspiration to be in the top 32. With no additional ranking points added post-withdrawal, she awaited confirmation on achieving this milestone.

With the season now wrapped up, Raducanu finished the year as world No. 29. This positioning sets her up to be seeded in Melbourne unless she encounters challenges in the early events of 2026.

In early October, Raducanu had set her sights on being seeded at the Australian Open and highlighted the importance of a higher ranking for better opportunities in the draw.

Furthermore, she emphasized the significance of being a role model, aiming to inspire younger generations by maintaining a positive attitude on and off the court.

Raducanu currently stands as the sole Brit within the top 32 of the WTA rankings, with Aryna Sabalenka securing the top spot this year. Sky has also announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, offering over 1,400 live matches across various leagues for the upcoming season.
