Flair CEO Len Corrado emphasized in a recent interview the significance of this financial support, indicating that government officials acknowledge the magnitude of the issue and aim to sustain competitiveness within the industry.
Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. has confirmed the approval of bailout loans to mitigate the impact of escalating fuel costs and enhance the affordability of air travel. The terms of the loan require repayment within a four-year period, featuring interest rates below current market standards.
In response to the surge in energy prices following the onset of the conflict in Iran in late February, Air Transat’s parent company, Transat A.T. Inc., has secured $430 million in financial aid. The sharp increase in jet fuel prices, now nearly double compared to a year ago, has necessitated such support measures.
Moreover, Porter Airlines has also received a recent financial boost in the form of a $125-million bailout loan from the government.
