“Canadian Citizen Found Safe After Nepal Border Floods”

Must Read

Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand has reported that one of the 30 Canadian citizens and permanent residents who went missing following the devastating floods in Nepal’s border region with China has been located unharmed. The individual had been unreachable due to communication disruptions but managed to make contact on Tuesday.

The flash floods occurred a week ago when a glacier collapsed in the Himalayan border area between Nepal and China. The catastrophe resulted in massive destruction and loss of lives, with over 1,100 people confirmed dead and more than 3,900 individuals still missing. Nepal’s Foreign Ministry has stated that 590 foreign nationals from 39 countries are still unaccounted for.

To aid in the relief efforts, Canada will be sending over 18,000 emergency supplies from the Canadian Red Cross reserves to the affected region. This assistance is in addition to the $5 million in humanitarian aid that Ottawa had already committed to supporting the relief operations.
