“Bestselling Author Carley Fortune Announces ‘Only in Summer’ Release”

Must Read

Blockbuster romance writer Carley Fortune has revealed the upcoming release of her sixth book, “Only in Summer,” set to debut on May 18, 2027. This novel brings readers back to the familiar town of Barry’s Bay, Ont., the backdrop for Fortune’s previous works, “Every Summer After,” and “One Golden Summer,” and her childhood hometown.

Fortune shared in a newsletter that she fulfilled her dream of owning a cottage near Barry’s Bay just before starting the writing process. The story follows the protagonist, Eleanor Florek, also known as Ellie, who shares a similar aspiration of owning property in Barry’s Bay. Ellie’s plans take an unexpected turn when a neighboring house is demolished to make way for a grand mansion, setting the stage for a potential romance in the lakeside environment.

The author, based in Toronto, has an extensive background as an editor for various publications. Her earlier books include “Our Perfect Storm,” “One Golden Summer,” “Every Summer After,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Meet Me at the Lake.” “Meet Me at the Lake” was a finalist on “Canada Reads” in 2024, championed by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel featured on the show.

Furthermore, “Every Summer After” was adapted into the Amazon Prime Video series “Every Year After,” renewed for a second season, while Netflix Canada is set to create a 10-episode series based on “This Summer Will Be Different.”
