Vodafone has successfully resolved a significant network disruption that affected numerous customers’ ability to connect to the internet, attributing the issue to a specific cause.
Reports emerged on Monday afternoon indicating that a large number of customers were experiencing difficulties with their broadband and mobile data services. Over 100,000 customers flagged service problems on Monday, as per data from DownDetector.
The initial complaints started surfacing after 2pm, with most customers noting disruptions to their home internet services. Vodafone has since issued an apology for the incident, citing a “non-malicious software issue” with one of its partner companies as the root cause.
A Vodafone spokesperson stated, “During Monday afternoon, a temporary disruption impacted Vodafone’s network, affecting broadband, 4G, and 5G services. This was triggered by a non-malicious software problem with one of our vendor partners, which has been rectified, and the network is now fully operational.”
“We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers,” the spokesperson added.
With over 18 million customers in the UK, including approximately 700,000 home broadband subscribers, Vodafone also saw reports of service disruptions from users of the Voxi mobile operator, which falls under the Vodafone umbrella.
