“Google Introduces Email Address Change Feature for Gmail Users”

Must Read

Google has introduced a new feature allowing millions of Gmail users to change their email addresses. Users can now modify their Google Account usernames, the part before @gmail.com, which is used for various services like Gmail, Photos, and Drive. The original email address will continue to function alongside the new one, ensuring no messages are missed. Google assures that existing data such as photos, messages, and emails will remain unaffected by this update.

While this change is a welcome one from Google, it is currently only available in the US, leaving users in the UK out of the loop for now. For US users, Google advises accessing account settings, selecting personal info, then email, and finally Google account email to change to a new, unique username. Users are reminded that the original email address will be retained as an alternate option. However, only one new address can be created every 12 months. It is recommended for users to check their settings to see if the update has been applied to their accounts.
