David Malukas set the pace during the practice session at the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy held in Markham. Malukas clocked an impressive time of 1 minute and 14.194 seconds in the second practice session of the day, with qualifying scheduled for later in the evening.
Following closely behind, Alex Palou secured the second-best time with a lap time of 1:14.560, while Dennis Hauger claimed the third spot with a time of 1:14.592 navigating the downtown road course at Markham.
The event faced delays as organizers had to cancel the first day of track sessions due to the incomplete course and pending safety inspections.
This year marks the debut of the race in Markham, having previously been hosted at Toronto’s Exhibition Place since its inception in 1986.
Earlier in the day, Palou had shown his speed by recording the fastest time in the morning practice session, completing the circuit in 1:14.9915.
