A 21-year-old woman is in critical condition at a hospital in Liverpool after being involved in a car crash during a police pursuit. The incident occurred in Sydney’s south-west around 11pm on Wednesday, December 10. The female driver, also 21, and another woman in the car were also hospitalized in serious conditions.
According to the New South Wales Police, officers spotted a Ford Ranger allegedly speeding through a red light while on patrol. A pursuit was initiated after the driver failed to stop, but it was quickly ended due to safety concerns.
The police spokesperson stated that a critical incident investigation has been launched following the crash. The pursuit resumed shortly after being terminated, leading to the Ford Ranger colliding with a BMW sedan and a Toyota Yaris hatchback at an intersection.
The 21-year-old passenger in the sedan was treated at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition. The two other women in the car were also hospitalized in serious condition. The 17-year-old male driver of the stolen Ford Ranger was taken to Fairfield Hospital for assessment.
