“New El-Alamein City: Egypt’s £160M Riviera Gem”

Must Read

A state-of-the-art city project worth £160 million is emerging on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast, poised to rival popular European holiday destinations such as Spain, Italy, and Greece. Known as New El-Alamein City, this development is set to become the new hub of the Egyptian Riviera, offering pristine white beaches, clear waters, and an average temperature of 24°C in November.

Situated within the Marsa Matruh governorate and spanning nearly 49,000 feddans (around 200 million square meters), New El-Alamein City aims to attract international tourists and create a modern urban lifestyle. The project is expected to accommodate approximately three million residents, making it one of the most advanced cities in the Middle East.

The initial phase of the construction already includes housing for around 400,000 people, with plans for a fully integrated city featuring residential, cultural, tourism, industrial, and research districts. The city will offer international hotels, luxury resorts, a private university, and designated buildings for the President and Cabinet.

Infrastructure development, including water treatment facilities, sewage systems, and smart electricity networks, is a joint effort between Egypt’s Urban Communities Authority and the Armed Forces Engineering Authority. New El-Alamein City will be divided into tourism, historical, and residential zones, offering a variety of accommodations from high-end resorts to modern apartments.

The highlight of the city will be the City of Culture and Arts, a vast complex with a Roman-style theater, opera house, cinema, and production studios, positioning New El-Alamein as a cultural and tourist destination. Additionally, the project aims to alleviate population congestion in Cairo by providing sustainable urban living with smart transportation systems and renewable energy sources.

Over 30 developers have already been granted permits to build more than 30,000 hotel rooms as part of the ongoing first phase of the project. Considered a significant development for the Mediterranean region, New El-Alamein City aims to transform Egypt’s northern coastline into a competitive destination offering sunshine, luxury, and contemporary living just a short distance from the UK.
