Christian Horner Considered as Aston Martin Team Principal

Must Read

Christian Horner is being considered as a potential replacement for Andy Cowell as the team principal of Aston Martin. The 56-year-old is rumored to be at risk of losing his position following the recent Las Vegas Grand Prix. Horner, the former head of Red Bull, has been looking to return to Formula 1 since departing in July.

After a challenging race in Las Vegas, RacingNews365 reported that Cowell was on the verge of being removed from his role at Aston Martin. The team is currently struggling in seventh place in the Constructors’ Championship, just eight points ahead of Sauber. Andreas Seidl, a former McLaren and Sauber figure, was identified as the top candidate to take over.

BBC Sport has indicated that Horner is also in contention to succeed Cowell. Horner, a prominent figure in Red Bull’s history, has been linked to various teams following his departure but could potentially secure a major opportunity with Aston Martin.

Speculation about Horner joining Aston Martin emerged before the Singapore Grand Prix, but Cowell quickly dismissed these rumors, stating that there were no plans to involve Horner in any capacity in the team’s future.

If Horner were to return to the grid with Aston Martin, it would lead to a reunion with his rival Zak Brown, the CEO of McLaren Racing. Brown, who had praised Horner’s past achievements, also expressed concerns about changes in Horner’s demeanor over time.

Meanwhile, Red Bull had a successful outcome at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen securing a crucial victory to keep his hopes alive in the Drivers’ Championship. However, both McLaren cars were disqualified after the race, affecting the standings as the competition intensifies.
