Wetherspoon has revealed intentions to establish a new pub on a university campus. The renowned pub chain will oversee Joe’s at the University of Birmingham through a fresh collaboration. Named after the University’s iconic clock tower, Joe’s will continue to be operated by the Guild of Students.

The upcoming venue is set to launch in Easter 2026 after undergoing a comprehensive renovation. It will offer the complete Wetherspoon food and beverage selection, including special weekly deals like the Thursday Curry Club. With close to 800 pubs nationwide, Wetherspoon introduced its inaugural university pub at Hull University in 2022.

John Hutson, the CEO of Wetherspoon, expressed excitement about the partnership with the Guild of Students and the prospects for Joe’s Bar. University of Birmingham Guild of Students President, Antonia Listrat, emphasized the advantages for students, highlighting the value-for-money offerings and increased job opportunities resulting from the collaboration.

The partnership aims to enhance the student experience and support the Guild’s commercial initiatives. Additionally, Wetherspoon is set to open six new pubs by mid-January, with a detailed list to be disclosed soon.

In other news, Wetherspoon recently launched its Christmas menu, featuring the return of the popular turkey dinner option. The festive feast includes turkey breast slices, stuffing, roasted vegetables, pigs-in-blankets, peas, cranberry sauce, and gravy, priced at £13.99 with a soft drink or £15.52 with an alcoholic beverage. Despite slight price increases from last year, the Christmas menu will be available until December 31.

Tim Martin, Wetherspoon’s chairman, affirmed the company’s commitment to minimizing price hikes despite industry challenges, aiming to maintain affordability for customers.
