The company stated that users still utilizing the older Hub 3 and Hub 4 devices will be targeted for the transition to the advanced Hub 5 technology at no extra charge. The Hub 5 features upgraded Wi-Fi 6 technology, providing faster and more reliable connections.
Eligible customers will be notified via email in the upcoming weeks and months as the upgrade is progressively implemented throughout 2026. Virgin Media highlighted that the Hub 5, equipped with Wi-Fi 6 technology and seven internal antennas, offers enhanced coverage and consistency in signal strength. The company plans to upgrade selected customers using older hubs, with thousands expected to benefit by the end of 2026.
Virgin Media will directly contact qualifying customers, eliminating the need for them to take any immediate action. Customers can also verify their eligibility by logging into their My Virgin Media account online.
To determine the router model, users can check the sticker on the back or bottom of the device or access the information through the Virgin Media Connect app. Upgrading to the Hub 5 can significantly enhance broadband experiences by providing wider Wi-Fi coverage, improved stability, and support for future updates.
