Virgin Media has emerged as the top choice for households seeking superior broadband speeds, reliability, and consistent service quality, according to the latest assessment by Opensignal. The UK Internet Service Provider (ISP) outperformed all others across key metrics such as Download Speed, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Consistent Quality.
Andrey Popov, Principal Analyst, highlighted Virgin Media’s exceptional performance, attributing it to the ISP’s advanced cable-to-fibre network. This network upgrade distinguishes Virgin from competitors relying primarily on the Openreach wholesale platform. Virgin excelled in Download Speed, averaging 187.8Mbps, and Reliability Experience with a score of 747 points.
Vodafone secured the second position overall, garnering high ratings in all categories. Noteworthy is Vodafone’s unique approach of utilizing both the Openreach and CityFibre networks, setting it apart from most ISPs that operate on a single platform.
Among other ISPs, BT ranked third in Consistent Quality and Download Speed, while Sky received recognition for its Video Experience, placing second in this category.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, Three landed at the bottom of the rankings, scoring lowest in Consistent Quality, Upload Speed, Video Experience, and Reliability Experience. TalkTalk also faced challenges in Download Speed, with an average of 55.1Mbps compared to Virgin’s 180Mbps+.
