The Metropolitan Police is currently investigating fresh allegations concerning Prince Andrew following the release of a controversial email suggesting that the former duke attempted to tarnish the reputation of his accuser, Virginia Giuffre.
Prince Andrew has strongly refuted claims of engaging in sexual activities with Jeffrey Epstein’s accuser, Virginia, who passed away earlier this year at the age of 17. Despite denying any wrongdoing, his association with convicted sex offender Epstein continues to overshadow his position within the Royal Family.
Having withdrawn from public duties five years ago, Prince Andrew has now voluntarily renounced the use of his titles and honors with the approval of his elder brother, King Charles III. In a statement from Buckingham Palace, Prince Andrew announced his decision to prioritize his family and country over his titles.
Recent revelations of alleged misconduct are surfacing, making it challenging for the Royal Family to address the ongoing concerns surrounding Prince Andrew.
According to the Mail on Sunday, Prince Andrew allegedly instructed his taxpayer-funded Met bodyguard to investigate Virginia, providing her personal details in an attempt to gather negative information. However, there is no evidence that the officer complied with this request.
In an email sent in February 2011, Prince Andrew reportedly shared Virginia’s personal information with his mother’s press secretary, suggesting she had a criminal record in the United States.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed they are actively examining these claims, while Virginia’s family, who stated she had no criminal record, condemned the alleged attempt to discredit her and demanded an investigation into how Prince Andrew obtained her private information.
Victoria Derbyshire interrupted Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg to share the Metropolitan Police’s decision to probe Prince Andrew’s alleged directive to his bodyguard to investigate Virginia Giuffre.
Reacting to the news, BBC Newsnight presenter Emily Maitlis, whose interview with Prince Andrew in 2019 contributed to his downfall, expressed satisfaction with the development.
