“Paddy Pimblett Champions Mental Health Through MMA”

Must Read

UFC fighter Paddy Pimblett is leading an initiative to enhance mental health through the practice of mixed martial arts. Pimblett, who is poised for a lightweight title opportunity next year, has been a vocal supporter of mental health causes, particularly after his victory over Jordan Leavitt in London in 2022. Following the loss of a close friend to suicide, Pimblett established The Baddy Foundation to address food insecurity and combat the stigma surrounding men’s mental well-being.

In addition to his endeavors, Pimblett has taken on the role of ambassador for UFC’s collaboration with OnSide, which will offer weekly discussions for young adults. These programs, overseen by skilled trainers, aim to develop self-discipline, self-defense abilities, confidence, coordination, and mental fortitude in a secure and encouraging setting.

Reflecting on his roots in Liverpool and his journey to the UFC stage, Pimblett expressed his gratitude for the opportunities martial arts provided him. He emphasized the importance of supporting programs that empower young individuals in Wirral to discover their passions, boost their confidence, and realize their aspirations.

CEO Jamie Masraff of OnSide highlighted the positive impact of martial arts sessions on youth at various Youth Zones. The partnership with UFC will now extend to The Hive, focusing on mental health support groups that align with UFC’s commitment to promoting the well-being of young people. These sessions aim to create a space for open dialogue, confidence-building, resilience strengthening, and fostering a sense of belonging among participants.

Pimblett has been candid about his personal struggles, stressing the need for men to break the silence on mental health issues. He emphasized the importance of seeking help and encouraged open communication to prevent tragic outcomes.
