Mysterious circumstances continue to shroud the tragic deaths of a social media influencer and her teenage daughter in Rio de Janeiro.
Lidiane Lorenço, aged 33, and her 15-year-old daughter Miana Sophya were discovered lifeless in their residence in Barra da Tijuca on October 10. The authorities found Lidiane in one of the bedrooms, while Miana was located in the living room. Initial reports from Brazilian media, citing the local police department, indicated no signs of violence on their bodies.
The family’s legal representative expressed that the forensic examination carried out recently has raised more uncertainties than clarifications about the incident. According to G1, attorney Rodrigo Moulin stated that the examination has introduced further complexities to the case, as the authorities are being cautious and keeping all possibilities open.
Following three hours of forensic analysis, Moulin mentioned that the only confirmed irregularity was in the gas installations within the apartment. He highlighted that the gas heater was improperly installed, with the gas outlet from the chimney leading into the apartment itself.
Moulin emphasized that law enforcement is exploring various theories, including potential food-related causes, while awaiting the forensic test results, which are yet inconclusive.
Lidiane had relocated to Rio a few years back to pursue her medical studies and career as a model and social media influencer. Miana had moved from São Paulo to live with her mother in Rio after attending school in her hometown.
After the initial investigation, local police confirmed to G1 that no signs of assault were found during the forensic examination at the scene.
The lawyer indicated that the death certificate will play a crucial role in determining the cause of death for both individuals, considering their underlying health conditions. Lidiane had thrombophilia, a condition increasing the risk of blood clot formation, while Miana had hemophilia, a rare disorder affecting normal blood clotting.
“There was a suspicion that Miana might have passed away first, given the advanced state of decomposition of her body compared to Lidiane’s,” added the lawyer.
