British darts sensation Luke Littler provided an update following his absence from the penultimate Players Championship event of 2025. The 18-year-old was set to compete in PC33 at the Robin Park Tennis Centre in Wigan but missed the registration deadline due to traffic delays. Littler humorously mentioned on Instagram that he was heading back to bed and speculated on the replacement player.
As a result of missing the sign-on time, Littler had to forfeit his spot in the tournament lineup. While his competitors, including Luke Humphries, took the stage, Littler opted to enjoy Chinese cuisine at a nearby restaurant. Later in the day, he explained his tardiness, citing a road traffic incident on the M6 in Wigan that resulted in a fatality.
Emergency services responded to the incident on the M6, where a man was tragically pronounced dead. Despite the setback of missing PC33, Littler secured his place in the upcoming Players Championship finals in Minehead with a stellar performance in PC32. He captured the £15,000 prize by triumphing over several opponents, ensuring his spot in the prestigious finals weekend.
Littler’s victory at PC32 followed his World Grand Prix championship win just days earlier. The rising star, now ranked world No.2, expressed satisfaction at proving doubters wrong on social media. With his eyes set on the £120,000 top prize at the upcoming finals, Littler remains a force to be reckoned with on the darts circuit.
