A 20-year-old individual troubled by unknown issues reportedly used a hammer to fatally beat his mother before fleeing into the nearby woods, uttering a chilling word. Sebastian Van Stockum was apprehended following his confession of killing Laura Williams, 55, near their affluent residence. Law enforcement responded to a distress call reporting a man shouting “Mama” from the woods, leading to the discovery of the tragic incident.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers encountered Van Stockum, who had blood stains on his face, attire, and hands. He was promptly taken into custody. Laura had sustained severe head injuries, including blunt-force trauma and a fractured skull, with a bloodied hammer found near her. Despite resuscitation efforts, she succumbed to her grievous wounds on-site.
During questioning, Van Stockum allegedly admitted to his involvement in the killing, stating, “I did it,” and detailing his use of various methods, including a knife, hammer, and fists. He also mentioned struggling with mental health issues. Laura, a single mother and antique dealer, resided with her son in their $1.9 million New Canaan, Connecticut home. Van Stockum appeared in court, where the prosecution described the incident as an “especially violent murder.”
In a separate case, Lorenz Kraus confessed to burying his parents, Franz and Theresia Kraus, in their backyard during a television interview. Kraus admitted to suffocating his parents after they passed away, detailing the grim events that led to their burial in Albany. The investigation into Kraus initially focused on financial crimes and was later intensified following a welfare check that revealed the elderly couple missing. Kraus’s on-camera confession followed the discovery of the buried bodies, shedding light on the disturbing events.
