“Australian Racer Accused in Nurse Assault Scandal”

Must Read

Joey Mawson, a 29-year-old Australian racer, has been identified as the individual accused of sexually assaulting a nurse who worked for Formula 1 icon Michael Schumacher. The alleged incidents occurred at Schumacher’s residence in Gland, Switzerland, following a social gathering where Mawson is said to have assaulted the unconscious woman on two separate occasions.

Mawson has refuted the accusations, asserting that their relationship was consensual and intimate, citing a prior encounter at a nightclub in Geneva. Originally from Sydney, Australia, Mawson was once poised for success in Formula 1 racing but later opted to compete in his native country after a decline in his performance.

Having close ties with Schumacher’s son, Mick, Mawson competed against notable figures in the sport such as Lando Norris of McLaren and George Russell of Mercedes. A trial was scheduled by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the District of La Cote, with a detailed indictment prepared for the case.

However, Mawson, a two-time champion of the Australian S5000 series who is currently barred from racing due to a doping scandal, failed to attend the court hearing on the specified date. Despite his absence, the trial commenced but was promptly adjourned for a later undetermined date as reported by The Sun.

It is important to note that no members of the Schumacher family are implicated in the legal proceedings. The indictment from the Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses Mawson of sexually assaulting the nurse while she was unconscious after consuming vodka cocktails.

The nurse, who was a live-in caregiver for Schumacher following his tragic skiing accident in 2013, was reportedly assaulted at Schumacher’s residence on the night of November 23, 2019. Allegedly, Mawson and two other staff members were playing pool in the billiard room when the victim joined them after completing her shift.

After the nurse retired to bed, Mawson purportedly returned to her room and assaulted her while she was unconscious. The nurse filed a formal complaint over two years later in January 2022 regarding the incident.
