A father who contacted law enforcement regarding his own child unknowingly revealed his alleged mistreatment after authorities uncovered disturbing details.
Thomas Barker, aged 44, faces charges of misconduct towards a minor after notifying the police that his 11-year-old son was behaving uncontrollably and not following instructions. However, the situation took a turn when officers arrived at his residence.
The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office disclosed in a statement on Facebook that Barker was the actual perpetrator, having purportedly made threatening remarks to the child when asked for food.
Allegedly, the child was met with hostile responses such as, “leave my room or face consequences,” escalating to violent suggestions like using a knife. According to reports, Baker was captured on video making harmful statements, including refusing to assist his son in distress.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell commented, drawing a parallel to a biblical verse, expressing dismay at the child’s treatment. The child has been relocated to a relative’s care, as reported by Wis TV station.
In a separate incident, a father faces charges of child torture and abuse after taking his three young children, aged two, four, and eight, on a challenging hike through rugged terrain.
Distressing footage from the hike showed the father, Micah Smith, continuing despite his children’s pleas and concerns about freezing to death. The indictment revealed that what seemed like a harmless outing turned into a nightmare as the father prioritized reaching the mountain peak over the safety of his children.
Throughout the ordeal, the children expressed fear, exhaustion, and a desire to return home, while the father disregarded their well-being. The indictment criticized the father’s lack of preparedness and selfish behavior, highlighting his failure to fulfill his role as a protector.
