“Tragic Mishap: Man Killed by Dog-Activated Van in Florida”

Must Read

A tragic incident unfolded as a man lost his life due to a dog’s unintentional actions inside a van. James Campbell met a sudden death in 2013 while assisting his wife in parking their vehicle in their driveway in Tampa, Florida.

The 68-year-old resident of Cantonment, Florida, was fatally struck by his own van, a 1995 Chevrolet, after his pet dog accidentally activated the accelerator pedal. The dog, excited to see its owners, jumped into the driver’s side and caused the vehicle to accelerate backward, running over Mr. Campbell.

Despite his wife’s frantic efforts to stop the van, it was too late, and Mr. Campbell was trapped underneath the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. His wife sustained minor injuries and was taken to West Florida Hospital.

The incident highlighted the dangers of a running engine, a loose dog, and a vehicle in gear. In another bizarre dog-related event in Miami that same month, a homeowner shot a naked intruder who was found trying to choke their pet Rottweiler after being awakened by the dog’s barking.

The homeowner, responding to the situation, fired shots at the intruder, hitting him in the leg, and held him until the police arrived. The Miami Police Department spokesperson deemed the shooting justified, citing the intruder’s irrational behavior and the immediate aggression towards the homeowner.
