“Family abuse horror: 3 generations guilty in Sussex”

Must Read

A young girl in West Sussex endured sexual abuse from three generations of her own family, as revealed in the Hove Crown Court proceedings. The distressing case detailed how the girl was victimized by her father, grandfather, and brothers, alongside experiencing neglect from her mother, which constituted child cruelty.

Following a thorough investigation, six individuals were convicted of committing 39 offenses against the two sisters within the family. Sussex Police confirmed that two defendants were also found guilty of perverting the course of justice. Throughout the legal process, the victims received support from specially trained officers and partner organizations.

The abuse came to light when the elder sister disclosed the ordeal to a school staff member. Subsequently, the younger sister disclosed similar mistreatment and neglect by their parents. The trial began on September 16, resulting in the defendants being found guilty on 39 out of 42 charges. They are set to remain in custody until the scheduled sentencing in 2026.

To protect the identities of the victims, Sussex Police collaborated with the media to ensure responsible reporting on the case. Due to legal constraints, the names and identities of the defendants cannot be disclosed publicly.

Detective Superintendent Andrew Harbour emphasized the complexity of the investigation and its profound impact on the victims. He highlighted the ongoing commitment to the victims’ welfare and safety, particularly in such distressing circumstances. Sussex Police’s priority remains addressing violence against women and girls, urging all victims of serious sexual offenses to come forward.

Expressing satisfaction with the jury’s guilty verdicts, Harbour cautioned against online speculation that could jeopardize the victims’ right to anonymity. The full list of charges is available for reference, underscoring the gravity of the crimes committed in this case.
