A woman out walking her dog was shocked to encounter a large snake, believed to be a python, at a well-liked beauty spot recently. Charlotte Smith, 31, discovered the reptile with her dog Ella at Bargoed Common in Wales on Saturday. Startled by Ella’s actions towards the snake, Charlotte quickly intervened and took photos of the snake in hopes of finding its owner.
Charlotte estimated the snake to be approximately 1.5 meters long. Although not afraid of snakes, she reacted instinctively due to her awareness of adders as a dog walker. Charlotte’s mother, who is terrified of snakes, also joined the scene but fled upon seeing the snake.
The origins of the snake on the common remain a mystery, leading Charlotte to suspect that it may have been abandoned. Expressing sadness over the situation, she initially thought the snake might have gone into hibernation before realizing it was deceased when a knowledgeable individual examined it.
Charlotte noted that the snake was found about three miles from the nearest residence, making it unlikely for the snake to have reached the spot on its own, especially in the current weather conditions. She speculated that someone may have intentionally placed the snake there to frighten people.
Taking to the internet, Charlotte shared photos of the snake in a bid to reunite it with its potential owner. While acknowledging the possibility of the snake being misplaced due to a burglary or a vindictive act, she emphasized the importance of treating all animals with respect, including reptiles.
Charlotte promptly reported her discovery to Gwent Police and the RSPCA, despite the unfortunate outcome for the snake. She urged the public to show compassion towards all animals, emphasizing the significance of raising awareness about such incidents to foster empathy and care for all creatures.
