“England Rugby Star Betrayed in Reality Show Finale”

Must Read

A former teammate of Joe Marler from the England rugby team accused him of being betrayed in the Celebrity Traitors final. Marler progressed to the final episode of the reality show but was ousted by his peers, causing surprise among viewers.

The 35-year-old, who retired from international rugby in November last year, was selected as one of the 19 celebrities to feature in the inaugural season of the BBC’s Celebrity Traitors. Marler was part of the Faithful group, tasked with identifying a trio of Traitors.

Known for his outspoken nature throughout the show, Marler reached the final four along with Nick Mohammed, an actor from Ted Lasso, with whom he had formed a strong bond.

However, Mohammed had a change of heart at the last moment and his deciding vote led to Marler’s elimination, allowing Alan Carr to claim the entire £87,500 charity prize as the remaining Traitor.

Marler’s ex-England teammates watched the final together and expressed their surprise. Second-row Alex Coles shared insights about Marler’s personality off the rugby field before their match against Fiji.

Coles mentioned, “We were all gathered in the team room watching. Joe seemed to have everything under control with Nick’s support, but then things took an unexpected turn. We thought he would have done well if given more time for people to understand him.”

“Joe is charismatic, has a great sense of humor, and it’s refreshing to see a different side of a rugby player showcased to the public,” Coles added.

Despite the outcome, Marler harbors no ill feelings toward Mohammed after the intense voting process. During their reunion, he expressed his admiration for Mohammed’s decision, noting that he still held affection for him despite the disappointment.

Marler also developed a friendship with comedian Joe Wilkinson on the show, praising his humor and intelligence. Looking forward, Marler’s experience on the show may open up new opportunities in the media space.
